FLAT BOTTOM STEEL SILO

The MAFAL galvanized steel silos for grain storage are designed by the department of product development & design and produced to meet all kinds of grain storage needs. The high quality product is achieved by the production consisting of qualified expert staff, modern production techniques and fully automated manufacturing system.
High quality and extremely strong materials are used during the production process of the silos. Galvanized steel sheets used in the production of the silos are able to withstand 450 MPA vertical stress. Special galvanic plating is used for superior corrosion resistance; the standard galvanic plating of the sheets is 450 gr/m2 zinc coating and 350 gr/m2 zinc coating according to the customer’s request. The MAFAL offers you flat based grain steel silos available in diameters from 4,51 m. up to 31,60 m.

 

 

 

There are special vertical sidewall stiffeners on the silo surface which are designed to carry vertical stress load coming down through the silo to provide maximum durability. MAFAL vertical stiffeners provide excellent transfer of constant grain loads to the foundation.

On the graph you can see the vertical stress load value differences between the silo both with and without vertical sidewall stiffeners.
8,8 quality high strength decromat 500 a coated  bolts are used in all sheet connection places in order to obtain highest degree of durability of all MAFAL silos. Special paste is used in all silo body sheets and upper cone connection points in order to obtain full air imperviousity and full waterproofness.

There is an access door on the second ring of all MAFAL steel silos and one inspection cover on the roof of the silo. The access door of the silo is easily opened, it has double layer, where the outer layer is made of complete galvanized sheet and inner layer consists of 2 overlapped doors. The upper inspection cover is provided to allow entrance into the silo when the grain level is above the wall access door.

MAFAL provides a complete ladder system; inside ladders to enter the silo and outside ladder with safety cage and rest platform to reach the inspection cover. On the roof there is a ladder with double banisters starting from the rooflines to the top spot.

The MAFAL silo roof is one of the strongest silo roofs available. The MAFAL roof is designed to stand up to snow loads, strong winds, temperature cables and heavy loads of rooftop transporting equipment. The inclination of the roof is 30 degrees which provides optimum filling of the silo. To reinforce the strength and durability of the roof of grain silos with wide diameters special sturdy cross section structural roof is used.

The heat control system used in all MAFAL silos allows to detect hotspots,to detect insect activity,to avoid grain reloading for monitoring grain condition. The MAFAL heat control system consists of thermo cables, thermo sensors located inside the thermo cables which read the temperature of the grain inside the silo and portable or stationary temperature monitoring system. There are special steel ropes inside of the heat control cables which are designed to prevent extension of the cables. This heat control system can be combined with PLC and the temperature of all grain stored inside of the silos can be controlled on PLC monitor.
